Manual
DAWTER is a library for music you have not released: it reads the project files already on your drives, matches your bounces to the songs they came from, and lets you send one to somebody.
It is organised in the order you meet it. If something is broken rather than unclear, skip to troubleshooting — DAWTER names most of its own failures, and that page explains what each message means.
Start here
- Getting started — install, first scan, account.
- Folders and scanning — which DAWs, and where projects can live.
- Bounces — how a bounce gets matched to a song.
Sending work out
- Sharing — links, collections, and notes back.
- Collabs — working with other people.
- Plans and billing — free, Pro, and cancelling.
Two things worth knowing up front
DAWTER never writes to your project folders
It reads them. Nothing is added, moved, renamed or converted, and there is no library to import before you can use it. If you uninstalled DAWTER tomorrow, every folder on your drives would be exactly as it is now.
Only what you share leaves your Mac
Your projects, stems and samples are never uploaded. The one exception is a bounce you make a link for, or the one bounce per song DAWTER hosts for a collab — and only when that file is not already in your own Dropbox or Google Drive, in which case it streams from there instead.
